Welcome
This is not an "I love me" site. It's a "She loves me" site. It ought to be entitled
"Donna Warner Productions
proudly presents
Jack Warner"
Donna, of course, is my wife, and that's her in the picture at right. I'm the goofy-looking, easily-manipulated fellow she's in the act of presenting. The picture was taken in 2002 at the Gila Cliff Dwellings by our son Kurt. I don't have the beard any more. Just the mustache.
This site was originally designed and constructed by Donna, who insisted that any self-respecting author must have a web site. I'm still self-respecting, so I guess that's all right. In June of 2010, Kurt, a web designer, redesigned it using the original material and added a lot of features.
Shikar is out of print. Ibooks contracted to publish the book in paperback under a new title, Maneater. Ibooks went belly-up about a month after publication. Another outfit has bought the rights to the book but given the current climate I can't imagine it being reprinted..It is, however, available electonically.
Hallmark bought the movie rights and turned it over to an outfit called Paquin in Saskatchewan. The movie starred Gary Busey in the role of the sheriff, and was made for the Sci-Fi channel. I watched it once. The only reviews I saw of the movie were on a web site for Sci-Fi Channel addicts. The sternest reviewer called it "the worst movie I ever saw." The kindest objected to that, saying "it wasn't that bad."
Despite all this, I hope you'll look around. I'm adding a lot of personal stuff, pictures I've made and so forth, and I'll be using it as a sort of blog for the rare instances in which I have anything coherent to say. Kurt has already collected most of my "News from the High Lonesome" emails and put them on the site. Send us a message. We'd like to know what you think. — Jack Warner
